The Word of God:
First Union is a bible based and bible driven ministry. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; Hebrews 4:12). It is true without any mixture of error and is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. Scripture, God’s word is the supreme and final authority.

The Dove:
All four Gospel accounts refer to the baptism of Jesus by John at the Jordan River (Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; John 1:32). Luke says, “And the Holy Spirit came down in a bodily shape, like a dove on Him.” Because the Holy Spirit is just that—spirit—He is not visible to us. On this occasion, however, the Spirit took on a visible appearance and was doubtless seen by the people. The dove is an emblem of purity and harmlessness (Matthew 10:16), and the form of the dove at Jesus’ baptism signified that the Spirit with which Jesus was endowed was one of holiness and innocence.

Light:
Light always involves the removal of darkness in the unfolding of biblical history and theology. The importance of light and darkness is dramatically presented in the opening sentences of the biblical record. In response to the darkness that was over the surface of the deep ( Gen 1:2 ), God spoke and light came into being. In the first creative act, "God saw that the light was good" ( Gen 1:3 ). God Is Light. Light signifies God's presence and favor ( Psalm 27:1 ; Isa 9:2 ; 2 Cor 4:6 ). Light is the revelation of God's love in Jesus Christ and the penetration of that love into lives darkened by sin ( 1 John 1:5-7 ). Jesus declares that he is "the light of the world" ( John 8:12 ; 9:5 ). Jesus is the incarnate Word of God, who has come as the light that enlightens all people ( John 1:4-14 ), so that those believing in him will no longer be in darkness ( 12:46 ). The Light of Salvation and Life for Believers Those responding to the light are ushered into the sphere of life in which darkness is dispelled. Salvation brings light to those in darkness ( Job 22:28 ; Psalm 27:1 ; Isa 9:2 ; Matt 4:15-16 ).

Brotherly Love:
Jesus once told the Parable of the Good Samaritan when asked “Who is my brother?” In this parable Jesus (Luke 10:25-37) shows that it is basically anyone in need and not someone who is only a blood relative so brotherly love is shown to all men and women who need help at various times in their lives, just as we do from time to time. Just as the author of Hebrews says in 13:1 “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters” so it has nothing really to do with one’s own immediate family but those who we encounter during our lifetime and the imperative “keep on loving” means that it’s not a onetime act but an ongoing action which is why we’re told to “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor” (Rom 12:10). By the way “If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen” (1 John 4:20). You cannot call someone brother while hating them. If you do, you can’t claim to love God.
