First Union will celebrate Pastor Foster’s birthday on Sunday, August 9th. Please join the celebration by presenting our Pastor with a financial gift of any amount. There is a Pastor selection on both PayPal and Givelify. You may also write “Pastor Foster” on the envelope if you choose to give cash or check.
Pastors aren’t called because of their skills or wisdom. It’s an act of grace. Jesus reminds us in John 15:16, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you to bear fruit, fruit that will last.” Certainly that applies to all Christians, but I think it is especially relevant for God’s pastor. Much of that fruit and much of pastoral ministry goes on “out of sight” of the average congregational member. It is truly an opportunity to lift high God’s shepherds and to recognize and celebrate our Pastor who serve God’s people and our community.

Annual Church Tea
July has traditionally been the month of our Annual Church Tea. We are forced to move the celebration to the third Sunday in August (8/16/2020). We will combine the Church Tea and Family and Friends Day. The tea will be held outside on the church grounds. Thanks to a very kind member a tent has been donated for the occasion. Please check the announcements for more details.

First Union Missionary Baptist Church is a bible based ministry nestled in the heart of the Chicago South Suburbs. Our mission is to guide lost souls to Jesus while remaining a beacon of light and hope to the community. In 2017 we pursued and continue this mission by putting “Love in Action as Our New Normal.” We pour out our love towards you on purpose. We pray that you feel the love as you encounter the First Union Family. It is our hope and desire that your virtual experience ministers to you to the point that you would consider joining with us by accepting Jesus as you Lord and Savior; partnering with our ministry, uniting with our family of faith, donating to our ministry endeavors and/or joining with us in one of our live services.
ABOUT OUR CHURCH
First Union is a bible based ministry nestled in the heart of the Chicago South Suburbs. Our mission is to guide lost souls to Jesus while remaining a beacon of light and hope to our community and abroad.
Our mindset is to carry out the directives charged to us in the bible. Ministry and Ministry leaders at First Union are seen as servants. We find that 1 Peter 5:1-4 is one of many scriptures that order each ministry worker to maintain a Spirit of excellence and a way of servant-hood:
1 Peter 5:1 "The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away."
The service ministries represent First Union Missionary Baptist Church both within and beyond our walls. This cluster of ministries are endowed with the opportunity of providing church and the community with the true meaning of love.
